Mango will fly from Johannesburg (JNB) to Zanzibar (ZNZ) by B737-800 from September 21, launching the low-cost carrier’s first international service.
Zanzibar is a popular holiday destination for South Africans, said the airline, an offshoot of South African Airways.
Nico Bezuindenhout, Mango’s CEO, said eight months of charter operations have paved the way for scheduled flights.
"Zanzibar continues to represent good value to South African travellers and checks every box for a fantastic island holiday," he said.
"The expectation is that Zanzibar will become a strong route for Mango."
The route will launch with weekly flights but an additional frequency is due to be added before year-end.
