In 2010 – 2011 I worked on the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania as a teacher trainer with CUSO, a Canadian NGO. While there I met a young but very gifted teacher of Swahili-speaking high school students, helping them with their English and other subjects, in order to pass the state examinations that are in English. Also, some of you helped me raise money in Canada for eleven bicycles to lend his teachers, who all volunteer their time.
I taught with him in the elementary school that he rented in the evenings and worked with him to write project proposals to seek funding through NGO’s. I believe he will go far. He now he needs to pay for the building he has borrowed and this kind of money is very hard to raise! There is no such thing as a mortgage in Tanzania! The school is coming along, and in the future, he plans to build a companion orphanage.
A friend and I have decided to start a crowd-funding campaign to raise the sum of at least $10,000 to pay off the school building. In Tanzania this is a huge amount of money!

I do hope you will find it in your heart to help us out; every bit helps! And please feel free to pass this on to people who might be interested in helping. Your gift will go directly to his school in Zanzibar.
Feel free to write me if you have any questions…..
